In this 6 week workshop, writers of all levels will be given the opportunity to receive feedback from their peers and editorial suggestions from Alyssa Pinsker, with the goal of submitting their story for publication. Each writer will present a partial or complete draft of their work every week and will also participate in editing others’ submissions. We will also cover how to write a good query letter, and where to pitch using Pinsker’s “Rolodex” of contacts from 12 years and private professional writers and authors groups. Designed for writers who have a story in progress or a completed draft, this workshop is limited to 10 writers. Half of writing is confidence and mindset, and Alyssa Pinsker is a well-known inspirational and motivational coach. From Alyssa: My mentor taught me how to take my “shitty first draft” or what I like to call “word vomit “and shape it into an article ready for publication in five weeks. Bring your idea or draft in non-fiction, fiction, essay, etc. of 10 pages or less. Your colleagues also give feedback, support, community and the village it takes to become a published writer. Reserve a seat at firstname.lastname@example.org. $335 per person, students must submit sample work prior to approval for class attendance. Begins April 9th, Tuesdays 6:30-8:30pm.
